United we stand; Divided we fall.

India - a land of rich biodiversity, heritage and culture, is the world’s most populated country. It is rich in all types of resources which are so beneficial for the people, that India should have been the most developed country in the world. But, sadly, this is not the case. Why is this so? Why can’t the politicians, whom we so confidently vote for, make the best use of what we proudly own? The reason is not known. But, however, some even don’t wish to raise their voices over controversial issues. This should strictly be reacted upon.
There are various controversial issues which should be brought under the radar. Like – caste-based reservation. This issue has been in India since 70 years which is an affliction living like a parasite in the minds of people. I think the reservation system has been perpetuated, not out of hatred for the upper castes, but because it has become an enormous source of wealth for the beneficiaries. It is so prevalent that the people who enjoy these baseless reservations have been hypnotized. Can’t they see that this is clearly exploiting their freedom of thought? They are so blinded by this luring enticement that they boastfully call it their ‘Birth right’!

“When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” - Dr. Wayne Dyer

Dear people, reservations based on caste is the most culpable thing which is rampant only in India. And we proudly say this, don’t we? Such a disgraceful thing should be completely eradiated!  No man can ever be judged on his caste or creed! I sometimes feel this has been deliberately brought up by some destructive minds for a long pleasure trip funded by others. And of course for votes!
Caste is a permanent attribute that cannot be removed or lost. Thus, reservation based on caste has identified certain communities as deserving and some others as undeserving of government patronage for all time. By now, all people who take advantage of this reservation have become hereditarily rich, and still enjoy these rights; yet they have minimal admission fees and are over-whelmed to have scholarships. I sincerely request such people not to take this personally and look at it from a broader perspective. Isn’t this exploitation of your power to think, despite being educated? Do we need such encouragements, which are vaguely and internally dividing us from within?
Nothing has been done so far to remove this system. This clearly seems that some people are not willing to stay together and want to enjoy ‘special’ rights throughout their life. Is our fate in the hands of reservation? Are we so helpless that we have to take support of such things?
Dr. Ambedkar had clearly stated that reservation was for the upliftment of the poor Dalits. He had a clear conscious. What he did was certainly going to benefit them. The duration of reservations was supposed to last for 10 years after its declaration. But today there are reservations for Other Backward class, Minor backward class etc etc. Some people seem to be fighting to conserve this for prolonged years. More and more people are gearing up to see how they can fall into some ‘category’ for the greed of some advantage they can obtain.
Let me tell you, that this is not going down well with the ‘common man’! He does not need to be exploited like this! He needs to be encouraged to bring about a greater change in India; not by reservations; but by treating all people as equal and bringing about a sense of unity among all.
What I don’t understand is why are the admission fees of people who have reservations so less? Let us see the figures do the talking! A common student will have almost 1lac admission fees. On the other hand, Reservation has blessed people with minimal fees which are not even half of that of others. Why is this so? How can caste decide how much money you own or how much are you capable of? And yet I am sure these questions will remain unanswered.
Let me tell you that I was told to keep this issue at rest as according to some people, this being a national and political issue that I should not write about it. The point here is it seems we still do not have the freedom of speech over controversial issues. However, I wish to sincerely convey that I do not intend to hurt anybody’s feelings. Also people should not try to suppress other people’s thoughts by stating something which will create fear in the minds of others.
Come what may, we should all step forward with a positive view to at least try not to support such things. We all know and can see that this is clearly dividing our nation even in this advanced age. Let us stand united and remove this unjustified system from its roots!
